An online portal for Africa
The e-Commission of NEPAD and the Commonwealth Business Council have joined forces to create the African Payment Gateway. To showcase goods to a worldwide audience and build on the Commonwealth Trade Exchange Platform that provides an online escrow service to businesses that trade internationally. It is perhaps the first time that a continent, under the auspices of the African Union, has determined to work together to provide a real and effective commercial opportunity for those African entrepreneurs who choose to trade on the global market.
APG will enable you to buy and sell without the costs of the traditional letter of credit and without the other risks associated with International trade. The new service is inexpensive and payment will be cleared through APG assuring sellers of their funds and guaranteeing buyers delivery.
In Africa, the settlement will be through the bank system or through the ZippCard programme that will be established in tandem with the launch of APG. Across the developed world buyers will be able to pay by credit and debit card or by bank transfer.
More Flexible
APG combines the virtues of online sites like e-bay and Ali Baba. It will be made available to companies who do not have a website or web access. Product pages and company profiles will be hosted in the portal and links provided to external websites where available.
More Commercial
APG is about building business. It is there to stimulate business in Africa and from Africa across the world. It will also be competitive in exchange rates and commercial fees.
More Secure
When will you pay me... something the buyer always wants to know. The Commonwealth Trade Exchange eliminates the risks by providing a common platform for the deal. Buyers can put funds into escrow knowing that they will not be paid unless delivery is completed. Sellers know that a delivery guarantees payment. APG removes the risks of international trade.
